Dear friends,
This is the next installment . I hope it is not too boring for you, but this blog is about us travelling with Hanneke & Richard to relatives and the places they live. With some fun in between and both our family reunions.
So here goes.....
Oosterbierum is a little township where Simone spent the first part of her childhood .She moved to the Noord Oost Polder when she was about 9 years of age. Her brother Wytse lives there now.
This is the house in Oosterbierum, where her grand parents from her mother's side lived. An uncle, youngest brother of her mother ( 84), still lives there.
From the little village it is about a 10 min. ride to the dyke, where she used to swim in summer. (Waddenzee) .
In front of the house where Simone was born. Hallum, Koedijk.
With her brother Wytse and Richard in front of that little house. It's a weekend house now for somebody who lives overseas.
On Lourens ' s nephew Jan 's (on the far left) organic farm.Next to him , his son Ronald, his wife Renske, then Richard and Simone.

The bottom part, the root, is what they use to grow the witlof from.It is all done hydroponically. Aquaculture.

Richard having a go at riding the tractor.
Cars, ( customers) parked in front of Lourens 's niece 's farm. They diversify by selling their produce , mainly potatoes , onions and carrots, direct to the public. Sometimes large quantities.
Joop, Lourens's niece s husband with a load of potatoes for a customer.
The shop where they sell their produce. Some of the fruit and vegetables and other products, are bought in from elsewhere .

The smallest exhibition building in Holland. Carin, Lourens youngest sister came up with the idea of using a telephone boot and place it in her backyard so she could exhibit her pottery and also pottery of fellow potters.
Exhibit of African ladies. Really very beautiful !
Having a BBQ in the backyard of Lourens' sister Carin. At least the potatoes are bbqed. We had a wonderful meal there with lots of vegetables and salads from her garden. Yummy!
The house of Lourens's parents. H&R spent many a vacation there, when we came over for a visit. Now his brother Henk lives there. It is a beautiful spot in Marknesse (the town) and overlooks a canal with a sluice. Many pleasure craft pass through, always something to watch!
